Toxin-Free Beauty: Wellness Through Clean Skincare

It is so important to use high quality toxin free beauty products as a part of your detox regimen.

True wellness and beauty always begin on the inside. Your outlook on life is extremely important, but the toxin load of your body may be even more important as it can have a huge impact on your outlook and mood. Our skin is one of our main detox organs, but it also is one of the greatest entry points for toxins, literally absorbing anything it comes into contact with. The sad truth is that so many women are slathering their skin with toxic “beauty” products that are only adding to the toxic load in their body and may ultimately contribute to the decline of their beauty as they age.

Toxins clog the liver and slow down our mitochondrial function. Endocrine disruptors can throw our hormones out of whack, contributing to infertility and miscarriage, as well as making menopause unbearable.

While optimizing liver function and removing toxins are important parts of my wellness programs, it is also extremely important to remove the sources of toxins in your environment and the day to day products you use.

A great source for checking out how toxic your personal care products and cosmetics are is Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep database. You can also look up individual ingredients here.

I’m constantly on the lookout for great toxin-free skin care products. If the products have anti-aging properties that actually work, I’m sold.

My personal favorite skincare brands (in order) based on cleanest (toxin-free) and noticeable results (in the mirror):

  1. Crunchi – LOVE! My favorite so far! *Noticeable results, toxin-free, and sustainable packaging. πŸ™‚
  2. Suki Skincare – Super clean, but didn’t really see results – I used this before I discovered Crunchi. πŸ™‚
  3. Dr. Hauschka – I’ve used this brand off and on for many years – not as clean as I thought. πŸ™
  4. Kiehl’s – This has been a favorite for years. Only recently did I discover they are not as clean as I thought. πŸ™
